Background

Research from GlobalWebIndex (GWI) reveals that the “typical” social media user spend average of 2 hours and 23 minutes per day using social platforms as of January 2024.

According to a research study of American teens ages 12-15, those who used social media over three hours each day faced twice the risk of having negative mental health outcomes, including depression and anxiety symptoms.

Solution

Fuse is an AI bot integrated social media that:

- Monitors users' daily moods and provides a weekly summary with recommendations on what to watch to improve mental health.

- Allows users to start a "fuse," similar to igniting a time bomb, which locks them out from viewing new content once their allotted time expires.

Given the short time frame, we created as many relevant cards as possible to capture the features and concepts we were considering.

We then organized the cards and came to 4 main features to include in the platform

What I do differently

Hold more brainstorming sessions

Investing more time in exploring problem space and brainstorming on more possibilities or refining the explored possibilities

Setting more rules for design system

Setting more rules in the design system such as more rules for shadows, cards, buttons, etc.

Conducting more user testing

Taking more time on testing and refining the design further
